Kirsten Ring Murray Leads Tour of Kirkland Museum of Art

2017/03/22

On February 6, principal and owner Kirsten Ring Murray led a tour of the new Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art for students from the University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture and Planning. Olson Kundig has designed a bold new home for the Kirkland Museum, establishing it as a radiant jewel among the museums of Denver’s Golden Triangle district. Construction of the new museum is currently underway and is expected to be complete by early 2018.

Central to the new plan for the museum was the relocation of the existing Vance Kirkland studio, a 1,384-square-foot historic art building which was moved to its current home next to the new museum in November of last year. The other defining element of the Kirkland is its feature façade – luminous terracotta bars of varying shades of yellow, interspersed with glass backed in gold, which will enliven the building’s public face. The new museum will sparkle in the bright Colorado sunlight, expressing the vibrant examples of artistry and design housed within.
