This family vacation house sits in a wooded acreage in rural North Carolina. Capturing the playful feeling of a tree house, the structure is raised up off the ground to enhance views and reduce the flood potential. Building upon a steel structure, the house uses local slate, horizontal wood siding and a metal roof to create an informal retreat.
