A collaboration with Seattle artist Mark VonRosenstiel and Olson Kundig staff, I Want All of This. All of This I Want. was a physical means of exploring the intersection of truth, desire and process. Throughout the installation, a large-scale drawing machine continually wrote the phrase “I Want All of This” in chalk across a 20-by-30-foot space on the floor of [storefront]. As visitors moved through the space to interact with the machine, their movements erased the words, creating a fresh surface for the phrase to appear again.

According to the artist, I Want All of This spoke to the desire to understand one’s environment through the methodical repetition of the phrase, the mechanical motion of the machine and reflections on process versus the sought-after goal. The challenge of I Want All of This was to build a writing machine in thirty days for under $1,000. Here, the public was able to watch the process of making, which happened in stages rather than immediately upon opening, revealing the experimental nature behind the installation.
